AV Products (excludes BRAVIA TV and home cinema projector products)
Sony agrees, subject to the terms and conditions specified below, to repair or replace at Sony's cost the product purchased by you, when the product does not perform in accordance with its specifications during:-
a. the Standard Warranty period specified in the warranty table; and
b. the Extended Warranty period (if the Extended Warranty fee has been paid in full).
1.1 Standard Warranty Terms and Conditions
1.1.1 The Standard Warranty applies to the Product from the date of purchase.
1.1.2 The Standard Warranty only operates if proof of purchase in the form of a bill of sale, invoice or purchase receipt is presented at the time of request for service.
1.2 Extended Warranty Terms and Conditions
1.2.1 The Extended Warranty is subject to the terms, conditions and exclusions appearing below.
1.2.2 The Extended Warranty period begins the day after the Standard Warranty period has expired provided the Extended Warranty fee has been paid in full. The Extended Warranty may only be purchased during the first 90 days following purchase of the product.
1.2.3 An Extended Warranty Certificate with an Authority Number will be issued once the Extended Warranty fee has been paid. Extended Warranty service will not commence unless an Extended Warranty Certificate is produced with a valid Authority Number and a sales receipt at a Sony Authorised Service Centre within New Zealand.
1.2.4 Sony is entitled to terminate the Extended Warranty by written notice to the owner, in the event that, in the opinion of Sony, the product is used contrary to its specifications, in which case Sony will pay a refund for the unexpired period of the Extended Warranty less administration expenses.
1.2.5 The Extended Warranty is transferable to a new owner, in the event of sale of the product, provided Sony is informed in writing at the following address:

1.2.6 To the extent permitted by law, Sony's maximum liability under the Standard Warranty and the Extended Warranty shall not exceed the original purchase price of the product or, at Sony's option, the cost of replacing the product. Sony reserves the right to replace the product with the same or equivalent product rather than repair it. Where a replacement is provided the original product becomes the property of Sony and the Extended Warranty is terminated
1.3 Standard Warranty and Extended Warranty Terms and Conditions
1.3.1 The Standard and Extended Warranties do not limit any conditions, warranties, guarantees, rights and remedies implied by relevant legislation in New Zealand, except to the extent permitted by such legislation.
1.3.2 The Standard and Extended Warranties do not apply unless the product was purchased in New Zealand from a Sony Authorised Dealer.
1.3.3 The product will be at the owner's risk whilst in transit to and from the Sony Authorised Service Centres, unless carried out by Sony or Sony Authorised representatives.
1.3.4 Sony and its Authorised Service Centres may charge labour, parts, transportation and handling costs for work done when the product is found to be in good working order.
1.4 Standard and Extended Warranty Exclusions
The Standard and Extended Warranties will not apply:-
1.4.1 If the product has not been installed, operated and maintained in accordance with the manufacturer's installation and operating instructions provided with the product.
1.4.2 If the product has been used in a manner other than for which it was originally designed.
1.4.3 If there is damage, malfunction or failure resulting from alterations, accident, misuse, abuse, fire, liquid spillage, mis-adjustment of customer controls, use on an incorrect voltage, power surges and dips, thunderstorm activity, acts of God, voltage supply problems, tampering or unauthorised repairs by any persons, use of defective or incompatible accessories, the operation of a computer virus of any kind, exposure to abnormally corrosive conditions or entry by any insect, vermin or foreign object in the product or any physical damage to the product caused by the customer.
1.4.4 To any failure, to the extent that the failure is not a failure of the product to perform in accordance with its specifications.
1.4.5 To transportation costs of the product or any parts thereof to and from the owner in connection with repairs or removal and re-installation, unless otherwise specified in these warranty conditions.
1.4.6 To wear and tear including to magnetic heads, audio and video, laser pick ups and TV picture tubes if the product is used in commercial, business, industrial, educational or rental applications.
1.4.7 Where the product has been tampered with or repaired by anyone other than a Sony Authorised Service Centre.
1.4.8 To service of any product whilst it is outside New Zealand.
1.5 Certain legislation in Australia and New Zealand may imply warranties or conditions or impose obligations on Sony which cannot be excluded, restricted or modified, or only to a limited extent. If such statutory provisions apply, to the extent to which Sony is able to do so, Sony limits its liability under any term, condition or warranty implied by law to:
i. In the case of goods, and at Sony's option, the replacement of the goods or supply of equivalent goods, the repair of the goods, or the payment of the cost of replacing the goods or of acquiring equivalent goods; and
ii. In the case of services, and at Sony's option, to resupplying the services or paying the cost of having the services resupplied

BRAVIA TV and home cinema projector products
2.1 General Terms and Conditions
2.1.1 Subject to the terms and conditions set out below and overleaf, Sony agrees to repair or replace at Sony's cost the Sony product, and any Sony accessory supplied with it, purchased by you in New Zealand and identified above (Product) when the Product does not perform in accordance with the manufacturer's specifications during:-
a. The Standard Warranty period specified for the Product in the warranty table overleaf, commencing from the date of purchase; and
b. The Extended Warranty period specified overleaf (if purchased in accordance with section 2.2 below).
2.1.2 Proof of purchase (i.e. bill of sale, invoice or purchase receipt) must be presented when requesting service under the Standard or Extended Warranties.
2.1.3 Sony reserves the right to replace the Product or relevant part with the same or equivalent Product or part, rather than repair it. Where a replacement is provided the Product or part replaced becomes the property of Sony. Sony may replace parts with refurbished parts. Replacement of the Product or a part does not extend or restart the Standard Warranty period. Replacement of a part during the Extended Warranty period does not extend or restart the Extended Warranty period. If the Product is replaced during the Extended Warranty period, the Extended Warranty automatically terminates upon replacement.
2.1.4 Included in the Standard and Extended Warranty for New Zealand is home service or on-site pickup for televisions with screen sizes greater than or equal to 40-inches (101cm), within 25 kilometres of the nearest Sony Authorised Service Centre.
2.1.5 The Product will be at the owner's risk whilst in transit to and from the Sony Authorised Service Centre, unless transported by Sony or its Authorised representatives.
2.1.6 Sony and its Authorised Service Centres may seek reimbursement of any costs incurred by them when the Product is found to be in good working order.
2.2 Extended Warranty Terms and Conditions
2.2.1 The Extended Warranty may only be purchased within 90 days of the date of purchase of the Product by paying the Extended Warranty fee in full. The Extended Warranty period begins upon expiration of the Standard Warranty period.
2.2.2 An Extended Warranty Certificate with an Authority Number will be issued once the Extended Warranty fee has been paid. When requesting service under the Extended Warranty, an Extended Warranty Certificate with a valid Authority Number and a proof of purchase must be produced.
2.2.3 Sony is entitled to terminate the Extended Warranty by written notice to the owner, in the event that, in Sony's opinion, the Product is used contrary to its specifications, in which case Sony will pay a refund for the unexpired period of the Extended Warranty less administration expenses.
2.2.4 The Standard and Extended Warranties are transferable to a new owner, in the event of sale of the Product, provided Sony is informed in writing at the following address:

2.3 General Exclusions and Limitations
To the full extent permitted by law, but subject always to section 5, the Standard and Extended Warranties will not apply:-
2.3.1 If the Product has not been installed, operated, maintained or used in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions or specifications provided with the Product.
2.3.2 If the factory-applied serial number has been altered or removed from the Product.
2.3.3 To damage, malfunction or failure resulting from alterations, accident, misuse, abuse, fire, liquid spillage, mis-adjustment of customer controls, use on an incorrect voltage, power surges and dips, thunderstorm activity, acts of God, voltage supply problems, tampering or unauthorised repairs by any persons, use of defective or incompatible accessories, exposure to abnormally corrosive conditions or entry by any insect, vermin or foreign object in the Product.
2.3.4 To damage arising during transportation, installation or while moving the Product, or to any transportation costs of the Product or any parts thereof to and from the owner, unless otherwise specified in these warranty conditions.
2.3.5 To any failure, to the extent that the failure is not a failure of the Product to perform in accordance with its specifications.
2.3.6 To replacement or repair of any (1) consumables (including batteries and cables), or (2) lost parts or accessories.
2.3.7 To service of any product whilst it is outside Australia and New Zealand.
2.4 To the full extent permitted by law but subject always to section 2.5:-
2.4.1 Sony will not be liable for any loss, damage or alterations to (1) third party hardware or software; or (2) programs, data or information stored on any media or any part of the Product, no matter how occurring; or for any loss or damage arising from loss of use, loss of profits or revenue, or for any resulting indirect or consequential loss or damage.
2.4.2 Sony's aggregate liability in respect of all claims under the Standard and Extended Warranties shall not exceed the original purchase price of the Product or, at Sony's option, the cost of replacing the Product.
2.4.3 Sony excludes all other warranties, conditions, terms, representations and undertakings, whether express or implied.
2.5 Certain legislation in Australia and New Zealand may imply warranties or conditions or impose obligations on Sony which cannot be excluded, restricted or modified, or only to a limited extent. If such statutory provisions apply, to the extent to which Sony is able to do so, Sony limits its liability under any term, condition or warranty implied by law to:
i. In the case of goods, and at Sony's option, the replacement of the goods or supply of equivalent goods, the repair of the goods, or the payment of the cost of replacing the goods or of acquiring equivalent goods; and
ii. In the case of services, and at Sony's option, to resupplying the services or paying the cost of having the services resupplied
2.6 Included in the Standard Warranty for home cinema projectors is a free replacement lamp, should the lamp fail within the first 500 hours of operation during the Standard Warranty period. If the lamp fails between 501 and 1500 hours of operation during the Standard Warranty period, Sony will provide a replacement lamp at 50% of the cost of the lamp. The cost of replacement lamps is not covered under the Extended Warranty.
2.7 In the case of home cinema projectors, the Extended Warranty expires after the Extended Warranty period shown above or after 4000 hours of use, whichever occurs first.
2.8 The Extended Warranty may not be purchased, and will not apply, if the Product is intended to be used, or is used at any time, in commercial, business, industrial, educational or rental applications.
3. Warranty Terms and Conditions
VAIO computer products
3.1 General Terms and Conditions
3.1.1 Subject to the terms and conditions set out below Sony agrees to repair or replace at Sony's cost the Sony product, and any Sony accessory supplied with it, purchased by you in New Zealand and identified above (Product) when the Product does not perform in accordance with the manufacturer's specifications during:–
a. The Standard Warranty period specified for the Product in the warranty table overleaf,commencing from the date of purchase; and
b. The Extended Warranty period specified overleaf (if purchased in accordance with section 3.2 below).
3.1.2 Proof of purchase (i.e. bill of sale, invoice or purchase receipt) must be presented when requesting service under the Standard or Extended Warranties.
3.1.3 Sony reserves the right to replace the Product or relevant part with the same or equivalent Product or part, rather than repair it. 3.1.6 Sony and its Authorised Service Centres may seek reimbursement of any costs incurred by them when the Product is found to be in good working order.

3.3.6 To any failure, to the extent that the failure is not a failure of the Product to perform in accordance with its specifications.
3.3.7 To replacement or repair of any (1) consumables (including batteries and cables), or (2) lost parts or accessories.
