How to turn Safe mode On or Off on your Sony Android TV™/Google TV™

Safe mode appears on the screen.

If your Android or Google TV isn't working properly, the issue may be caused by certain downloaded applications. Turning on Safe mode disables all downloaded applications and allows you to check if the TV functions normally.

If the TV operates as expected while Safe mode is turned On, consider uninstalling any recently downloaded applications, as they may not be compatible with your TV.

    • To enter Safe mode, follow these steps:  For other models

      1. On the TV remote control, press and hold the POWER button until a Power off message appears. This will restart the TV.
Note: For notes and details when restarting, refer to the article How to restart (reset) a Google TV or Android TV?
      2. Once the reboot starts, press and hold the Volume down () button on the remote control while the SONY logo is displayed on the screen.
Note: The words Safe mode will appear in the bottom left corner of the screen.
    • To exit Safe mode, perform Step 1 again to restart the TV.

Note: When the TV switches to Safe mode, Bluetooth will also be disconnected. When you exit Safe mode, Bluetooth will not automatically turn back on. You'll need to reconnect Bluetooth manually.
