How do I turn off TalkBack?

If you only hear spoken feedback every time you tap the screen, you may have turned on TalkBack. TalkBack is a pre-installed screen reader service on Android devices provided by Google for people who are blind or have low vision. It uses spoken feedback to describe the results of actions, such as opening an app, navigating your device, describing what you touch and activate, and events, such as notifications.

Note: A few Talkback gestures to remember, because when TalkBack is on, normal operations will not be accepted:

    • To select an item: Touch the item with one finger, then double-tap anywhere on the screen with one finger.
    • To scroll up or down on the screen: Place 2 fingers on the screen and drag up or down.

To deactivate TalkBack with Google Assistant

    1. Say "Hey Google, turn off TalkBack."
