Sony supports Windows® XP Service Pack 2 for models that are pre-installed with Windows® XP Home or Professional Edition.

Improvement for installing Windows® XP Service Pack 2

Updating of Audio Driver

Users who have installed Windows® XP Service Pack 2 on the following models will encounter these symptoms:

Computer is unable to produce any sound
Some programs, such as Smart Capture Premium may stop responding

To resolve the symptoms, please install Windows® XP Service Pack 2 and visit the VAIO Notebook Downloads page for the Audio Driver Upgrade.

Alternatively, users can install Yamaha Corporation Media Driver Version 6.13.10.3152 from Windows Update after installing Windows® XP Service Pack 2.

Updating of Display Driver

Computer will terminate with a "Blue Screen" error when using Fn + F7 keys (Display Switching)
Computer will terminate with a "Blue Screen" error when playing back a DVD.
