How to disable or change the power-on chime sound which appears together with the Sony logo?

Question

Disable or change the power-on chime sound which appears together with the Sony logo.

Answer

The power-on chime or sound that you hear when the TV is turned on, along with the on-screen SONY text, is an indication to let you know that the TV is being powered on. This is part of the normal operation and cannot be turned off or disabled without the latest system software (firmware) update.

NOTE: The sound level is set according to the volume level that the television was set to when it was powered off last.

Should you want to disable this feature, a model-specific software update is available. Please check the available download on your specific model page. After following the steps to download and install the the update, the option to turned off the Key Tone setting will be available in the Sound menu.
