Sasser Worm virus
Microsoft® Corporations recently made an announcement on What You Should Know About the Sasser Worm and Its Variants (http://www.microsoft.com/security/incident/sasser.asp) which exploits the Local Security Authority Subsystem Service (LSASS) issue.
Sony highly recommends that all VAIO users refer to the following countermeasures to protect the VAIO computer against this virus.
Symptom
- The following message appears and the system automatically shuts down when in connection to the Internet.
- Windows cannot be shut down or restarted.
VAIO Models That Are Affected
VAIO computers preinstalled with:
Microsoft® Windows® XP Professional
Microsoft® Windows® XP Home
Microsoft® Windows® 2000
Note: VAIO computers preinstalled with other versions of Operating System are not affected.
