35mm Full-Frame Imaging

Designed specifically to take advantage of the superb resolving power of high-precision α series lenses, its high pixel count and large size assure enhanced image detail and a wider dynamic range that enables colors and subtle tonal gradations to be captured just as the human eye perceives them.

Exmor CMOS sensor

The image sensor is designed specifically for 35mm full-frame imaging, and is produced using proprietary Sony planarization technologies to ensure an ultra-flat surface across the entire imaging area.

Dual BIONZ Image Processing

Image processing gets a big boost in speed and power from the dual BIONZ image processing engines. As a result, massive amount of image data captured by the sensor can be process instantly.

SteadyShot INSIDE

To match the larger size and higher image quality specification of the 35mm full frame Exmor CMOS sensor, the image stablization system is 1.5x more pwerful and 1.3x faster than previous system.

Anti-Dust Protection

In addition to a special anti-static coating that minimizes dust adherence, the anti-dust mechanism vibrates the sensor at a high frequency every time the camera is turned off to shake off dust that may have entered the camera while changing lenses.

D-Range Optimiser

Scenes with a wide dynamic range can be exceedingly difficult to capture. D-Range Optimizer compensates for high contrast scenes to achieve smooth, natural tonal balance while bringing out subtle highlight and shadow detail.

9-point AF

Versatile center dual-cross 9-point AF sensor system provides fast, accurate autofocusing to ensure fewer missed shots.

This is particularly useful when you want to fine-tune adjustments in advance, when working with a tripod or with a complex shooting set-up.
