- Advanced, high-contrast touch screen
- Built-in dictionary

- Read comfortably day or night with the E-Ink Pearl screen
Auckland – 6 September, 2011 – Reading has never been more advanced with the launch of the new Reader™ WiFi Touch, the world’s lightest 6-inch eReader from Sony.
The device slips easily into a bag or pocket, and is no bigger than a paperback book – at 8.9mm thin and weighing just 168 grams, it’s comfortable to hold, with a gentle curving profile that fits naturally in your hand.
With a battery life of over one month (up to three weeks with wireless turned on) and enough storage capacity to hold about 1200 eBooks via the internal memory (expandable up to 32GB with an optional microSD card), Reader WiFi Touch makes reading easier, virtually anytime, anywhere.
Books can be enjoyed day or night on the advanced glare-free Dual Touch screen and E-Ink Pearl electronic paper for a high-contrast image that is easy to read for hours, even in direct sunlight. Like a traditional book, readers can also ‘write’ notes on the page or highlight text with a finger or the supplied stylus.
Using the advanced touch screen, book lovers can choose a book, swipe a finger to turn the page, zoom in and out by pinching fingers together or apart and tap on a word and hold to find its meaning from two built-in English language dictionaries.
Connect to a wireless Internet connection and readers can also find extra information on words or phrases with in-text access to Google and Wikipedia.
Owners of the Sony Reader can source a range of latest release, classic and best-seller eBooks to enjoy. Reader WiFi Touch handles a wide range of digital formats including the popular ePub eBook standard, which makes it compatible with a variety of eBook content available online, plus PDF and TXT documents.
Reader WiFi Touch from Sony will be available in New Zealand from late October 2011 with an SRP $229.95 from retail partners such as Whitcoulls and Noel Leeming.
The Reader WiFi Touch will also be available in red and white exclusively from Sony Store.
