Sony's successful partnership with Wellington Phoenix FC will continue for the 2011/12 season with the company backing the club as a major partner for another season. Having been a principal sponsor of the club since its inaugural season in 2007 Sony are thrilled to continue the relationship and support football in New Zealand.
Sony New Zealand Country Manager Martin McManus said that Sony was excited to be back with the Phoenix. "Sony's make.believe brand is all about action, spirit, imagination, design and dreams. In the Phoenix's comparatively short history the club has demonstrated that these qualities are also part of what the Phoenix is all about. That's what makes this ongoing partnership a perfect fit for Sony and the Phoenix."
Wellington Phoenix CEO Nathan Greenham said he was delighted that Sony was keen to continue its association with the Phoenix. "Sony is a global brand with huge consumer recognition and to be able to proudly display this each time we play in season 2011/12 is a real boost. The support we have received from the company has been appreciated by everyone connected with the club, and we look forward to an exciting season with Sony on board again."
Phoenix begin the 2011/12 campaign in October and will be wearing the bold new kit designed by adidas with the traditional yellow and black vertical stripes and the Sony make.believe logo on the front and back.
This season Phoenix fans in Auckland will be able to see the team as Eden Park will host the fixture against Adelaide United on Saturday November 19. With a further fixture taking place in Dunedin on Wednesday December 14, it means that this season more fans across the country will be able to get behind the team and support the Phoenix.
Sony is committed to supporting the game through its long-term partnerships as an official sponsor of the UEFA Champions League, Official FIFA Partner and global sponsor of the FIFA World Cup™ in Brazil 2014.
