As a FIFA partner, Sony has exclusive rights to offer soccer fans the opportunity to act as a flag bearer at FIFA World Cup matches. A group of six flag bearers are entitled to walk out on to the pitch before the teams, holding the official FIFA Flag.
This is a money-can't-buy opportunity that Sony is proud to make possible for one New Zealand soccer fan to be part of the flag bearer group at the New Zealand v (defending champions) Italy match in the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa. This match will be played in the city of Nelspruit (pronounced Nel sprate) on 20 June 2010.
The selected child will travel to the event with a parent or guardian. In South Africa, they will be accommodated and provided with fun activities and sightseeing.
The Sony Flag Bearer will receive an official FIFA Flag Bearer uniform, a rehearsal T-shirt and souvenir gifts.
Because this is such an amazing opportunity, we want the New Zealand FIFA Flag Bearer to be able to share what the experience is like on Campbell Live and via the internet. So part of the prize package will be a Sony VAIO notebook, Cyber-shot camera, and a Handycam to upload video, and photos to friends, family and followers while they are in South Africa, as well as a Walkman MP3 player with Noise Cancelling headphones to enjoy their favourite tracks while travelling.

Be creative! The judges will be looking for someone who: Shows a real passion for football and was enrolled in a school or club team in 2009
Can demonstrate their ability to use technology and multimedia
Can communicate well – verbally and in written form
Is outgoing
Will represent New Zealand at the FIFA World Cup with pride
Is a New Zealand resident enrolled at a school in years 7 to 13

The closing date for entries is 11.59pm 28 February 2010. The entries will be narrowed down to a short list announced on TV3's 'Campbell Live' in the week commencing 15 April from which the public will be invited to vote on the Sony website until 5.00pm, 30 April.

Eligibility: The Sony Flag Bearer Competition is only open to New Zealand residents who, in 2010, attend school in year 7 to 13, belong to a soccer club or school soccer team, and played soccer during the 2009 season. Children of Sony group employees and Sony group business partners are not eligible for entry. By participating you agree to all terms and conditions and all decisions of Sony New Zealand Ltd which are final and binding in all respects.
2. CONTEST PERIOD: Applications open on 18 December 2009 and close 28 February 2010. The winner will be announced on 30 April 2010 and must be available for travel between June 12 and June 27, 2010 (exact dates to be confirmed).
3. Contest Participation: To participate, the Entrant must enter online at sony.co.nz. Entrants are encouraged to get creative with their entries and submitting photos or video is encouraged. Any video submitted may include sound but should not contain commercial music. The entry must be the original and sole creation of the Entrant and must not have been submitted in any other competition, must not have been published in any other medium/forum and must not infringe upon any third party’s rights. By entering, each Entrant grants permission for the use of his/her Entry, and his/her name, and the first name and last Initial of the name of any other person(s) depicted in Entry to be posted on the Internet and Web site or any web site in connection with this Contest, and in the advertising, promotion, and publicity of the Contest, and broadcast on TV3’s ‘Campbell Live’ television show. There is a limit of one entry per entrant. Once an Entry is submitted it cannot be changed. ‘Campbell Live’ is the sole broadcast partner of the competition and Entrants are not permitted to discuss the competition with any other broadcast media.
4. Judging: All entries will be judged by a panel selected by Sony New Zealand Ltd. Up to five Entrants will be chosen as finalists by a panel selected by Sony New Zealand Ltd. The Finalists’ entries will be uploaded to a website where the public will be invited to rate and comment on their favourite entry. The overall winner will be decided by a panel selected by Sony New Zealand based on how the videos are rated by the public.
5. Prize Details: The prize is a trip to attend the New Zealand v Italy game at the 2010 FIFA World Cup for the winning Entrant and Entrant’s parent or guardian. The winner and the parent or guardian will receive airfares from Auckland to Johannesburg, minimum 3-night/4-day accommodation (one standard double occupancy room), breakfast, lunch, and dinner during the stay in South Africa, 2 tickets and transport to and from the New Zealand v Italy match. The winner will be one of the six flag bearers who carry the official FIFA Flag on to the ground prior to the start of the New Zealand v Italy match. The final itinerary is to be determined by Sony New Zealand Ltd. Once travel is booked it cannot be changed without the express consent of Sony New Zealand Ltd. The winner will also receive NZ$1000 to cover all additional costs including gratuities, in-room charges, travel expenses, travel insurance, transfers, taxes, and all other expenses not specified. Winner and parent/guardian must travel on the same itinerary, must comply with all security requirements and are solely responsible for obtaining their respective travel insurance and travel documents such as passports, visas, and proof of current vaccinations (all as may be required by law). Sony New Zealand Ltd, its agencies and associated organisations (and any directors or employees) are not liable for delays, cancellations, or unforeseen events related to the prize.
6. Prize Restrictions: If the prize winner cannot accept the prize as stated, the prize may be forfeited in its entirety and awarded to an alternate winner. No substitution, cash redemption or transfer of prize is permitted, but Sony New Zealand Ltd reserves the right to substitute a prize, or portion of a prize, with a prize (or portion) of equal or greater value, if an advertised prize or portion thereof becomes unavailable for any reason. Once the parent/guardian is determined the parent/guardian cannot be changed without the express written consent of Sony New Zealand Ltd.
